haha, i think my life got a bit changed on 9/4.

when Robin on the stage announced that SGSS is the winner of the competition. I felt my eyes got wet. Haha, this is the first time I cried due to happiness. When I look at our robot, it feels like my son. haha. So happy, so excited, so amazed. Am i dreaming??

honestly speaking, when we joined this competition, we are planned to ""hea"". As we just didn't able to understand what the rule is taking about. The rule is one of the longest one among all the competitions I have joined before. ><....However, after sometime, may be it's due to our understanding of the rule, our passion to the competition starts to come to our mind. We 5 people started thinking about the design of our robot. Things were not going so smoothly, we did face lots of problems. The most important one is that we don't have enough time.

On the day before competition, we worked until 4:00am, haha... =__="......fortunately, it worths.

oops, i find i begin to be unable to handle the club's job and the academic work. Both the club and my academic results seem collapsing.
The ROV competition is coming very soon. However, it seems most members are too busy with other stuffs, or they just have too little passion. I wana to do the best in this competition, I don't really mean that i must win, but, at least, i should do what i expected in my mind. And, now, I just can't do what i expected.
Apart from that, we have another problem, it is that it seems that i start to go wrong with things. That means i made wrong decisions. And I think this is because I am working on it in a hurry.

Anyway, I will try to work that out, it should be okay. Nothing is impossible.

Open Day

I stay in the DT room without leaving during Open Day. We have prepared a game for the Open Day, the visitors can control a robot car with a needle in the front and a ballon in the end. Your mission is to break others ballon by your needle.

Due to our late preparation, the robots didn't work very well in the morning. But things go on very very soomthly after our repairation in the afternoon. Many visitors and players had a very good time in the game. I feel very pleased with this. ^o^

Another thing that i am pleased with is that all the DT club committees are very united. It seems that i don't need to ask them to come and help at all, they just come without being asked to. I really hope such a spirit will last forever in DT club.

in lego programming, apart from those commands to control the robot to move, there is something called G Code. G code is a copy of a very powerful, famous, graphic interface software called LabView. I do think it is quite impossible for a normal secondary student to understand all that, apart from integration, differentiation, best fitting the curves...etc, lots of other functions are available, it is terrrible.

LEGO is even a tool in teaching universary students of engineering

i find that a620 gets to be quite sharp in day
but soft in night scenery...
may be i should not choose the smallest aperture (bigest value in digit),
but a bit bigger...

what i can see on the http://dcfever.com is that many photographer uses DSLR(the kind of camera that reporters use), i am very eager to have one....but i have no $$...however, even i have enough $$, i won't buy a DSLR.....i will buy a DSLR only if i take a photo with a620, that is in turn put on dcfever.com. if it gets more than 50 votes, i will buy a DSLR

ho....in my final year that i can compet....i get a prize la....

the competition is held in a kwun tong secondary school
in total, there are 20 teams... some of them are absent

there is a heats first..followed by a semi-final of 6 teams...and the final of 2 teams...

we are doing quite badly in the heats...but, luckily we are able to be in the semi-final

among the 6 teams... 2 are from that kwun tong school...the 2 robots are the same...=__=

in the semia-final, each team has 2 trials... but we can reach the finishing line once only...
the 2 kwun tong teams finished both trials...but we are faster than them.....

however, the referee considers both trials....=__=(this is rare in comptitions, they usually take the best time)

the 2 kwun tong teams went to the finals.... and we are the fastest among the remaining teams... so we became the 2nd running up

actually... we nearly got both trials finished...
in the trial that we fail... the car jumps up by a little after crashing the wall...
that little jump makes us to be the 2nd runner up...
we are the champhion or 1st runner up now if the referee considers the best time, or we don't have that jump...

so i need ~37ml AgCl to reach the end point.....

and add that back to the weight.....

ya, lucky i am the dt club chairman again, as the form 4 guy called Jordan doesn't want to be the chairman, he becomes the vice instead...

ai....dt club is really facing a problem of aging population....
most experienced guys are in form 5
(actually, those "experienced guys" are not experienced at all, they are just comparatively more experienced...)

so, i MUST train a lot of new comers, or dt club won't do any better in later years

and we never take part in the F1 orientation day, so i need to go through the form 1, 2 floors during the lunch time in recent years....
also, design and technology, really doesn't give a clear image about what it is doing actually...
this makes students unwilling to join us

i hope this year's member can be the active ones
so i can teach them easily

another thing is that the previous dt vice chairman, lau hai yin, eric, is on vitoria gov. sec. school now
there IS a dt club there too!!
i hope he can join that
so we may be able to have a joint school competitiom or something like that
haha, it will be brillant if we can really have that!!

i think that's good la....
the service is good...the waiters act very quickly
the food comes quite quickly too

um.....it is good for me....but my "requirement for food" is quite low indeed....
so, it is just difficult to say

the environment is good too....
but again, my scale is different from yours...^___^""

the only thing that's not so good is that the gas heater has not enough gas at first...
the water never boils....
luckily the fire goes out soon...(so we would not be waiting and waiting...)

I first played with ar hang..(the computer assistant in SGSS)
but we played for just a while....
as he needed to work again lor....

then I played with serval students....
including the brother of Quentin and Mr Chan, the one that teaches 5E physics...haha

but there was quite a period of time that I was the only one in the school hall...
so I practised how to 'open" the ball myself....now I can open that successfully at least 2 times in 3 shoots la.....^^""

but the sgss hall is really hot....I felt like bathing....^^""

haha...recently, I play chess less lu...
I am playing with photoshop...haha
although, I am not studying art...but I am a bit interested in that....^^

recently, I discused photoshop with eagles...
eagles said that using photoshop is not easy....
it is something used to earn money ma.....

I totally agree with that...
but I got another idea....

I think, why the people can use photoshop to earn money.....
is not just due to they can use photoshop well....
but their mind, their brian, the creative mind....
those are Most valuable....

it is just like,
knowing WHAT to type is more important than knowing HOW to type....

Book Exhibition...

4:30am now......(+__+)

Au lin, Hilda, so wai, banana and I went to the book exhibition today.....haha
we went today but not on sat as so wai wanted to see Beckham on Sat......^^""

there are 3 halls, the exhibition area is huge....
it is quite impossible to walk through all counters.....
and there are mountains of people......you can't even get into the counters

after reaching the exhibition, we are splited into 2 teams....
they are so wai+hilda+banana AND Au lin and I

at about 5:00pm.....
so wai got lost from banana and hilda......

we can't find her by phone......as the $$ stored in the card is used up.....^^""
but she didn't find us through public phones.....
making us very worried....especially Hilda....^^.....

lastly...so wai got home herself at 9:00pm something.....
lastly, hilda, banana and I went to have dinner, and we chatted until the restaurant is closed....

what a happy day....^_^

after BBQ, we went home....and I went home with banana and So Wai...

on the way to So Wai home, the lightning was very bright and the thunder is very loud.....and I found banana is afraid of lightning very much...she walks very fast, with some crying.....haha

PS. I was very sorry that I made banana didn't went to Sai Wan Ho but went home instead.....>_<

today we go BBQ in Shek O..... it is very cloudy and windy today.... many of us said that it would rain soon... luckily, it didn't rain until we reach Shau Kei Wan at about 12:00am

when we were in Shek O.... it keeped lightning with no thunder herad, very frepuency... it looked very odd.....we can seldom see that....

after leaving Shek O and reached SGSS.... we saw a police car in front of the school!!! a policeman entered SGSS.....=_=

I think SGSS may had something stolen from someone again.....(the thief visits SGSS once a year...last year one is even more impossible to be happened...the thief used a big, heavy "scissors' from DT room, to cut the locks in the staff rooms!!!! and takes the computer notebooks away....how come he can enter DT room and knowed that where the "scissors" are??)
(one guy apart form the robber benifits.....^.^..he is Mr. Leung.....haha)

but I think this may not be a crime this time...as we saw that the 3rd floor of the SGSS got lights on...it is where the server room, CAL(computer assist learnig) room (the new computer room) are....

and the server room got security guide device..if the door is pushed.....the alarm will ring...may be(but the probablity is very low) it is because the wind blow hard to the door...and the alram thus was turned on...haha

all in all, I had a very happy day today...^_^

PS. are we going to "song k" on wed??

Chinese Chess

recently, I am always in front of the computer.
and I am spending my time mainly on the on -line chinese chess

as you can see in the URL, we don't understand what "xiangqi" is at all. This is because it is a site from Vietnam...haha....( found that in google)

in the web site, you can play chinese chess real time with others......
and the people there is skiful too....I win only 2 games within 11 games only....>_<

however, I really think I should have won more than that indeed.....
it is because the broadband company in use DISCONNECTS quite frequenly..... it is very bad...I think....each time it disconnects for 5 mins....this time is quite constant.....that means after it disconnects, you will find it reconnected after 5 mins.....

(as the time it disconnects is so constant that I think it may be due to other porblems instead of the ISP......but I c't find that out so far)

(the broadband company I use is the NWT...)

but this 5 mins is enough to make me lose in the game....as the game limits the time you think. you may think for at most 3 mins on each move...and your total thinking time is about 20 mins.....

so if it disconnects for 5 mins.....all your thinking time of a move is used up and you will lose...

Compaq computer problem...con't

after that, I went to the HK support centre. And the web site said that the model I use is not on the list of supported models.......(I think this is because the model I use is probably tooooo old and outdated)....

so I go to the foreign on and ask what I can do. The technician made my way to the phone support centre in HK.....>_<

I phone there, I ask the same question again....however, he said that the model is sooo old that he can just find not enough information about the motherboard I use indeed....that's too bad....

facing the problem of 66 MHz CPU.....the final solution is that I change to another CPU again...haha.....it is a 200MHz one...^.^......the gra. din. server will be this one la.....

haha...I am building a web server at home....

don't worry, server is not anything powerful and expensive....(it is true for the level I am at....you can build one at your home with the PC you are using!!!!...)

but there are some porblems...
as I burn out a CPU...(a veryyyyyyyyy cheap one, the ones you can find in museum only)....
(but that's really a shame.....>_<)

so I use another one to replace that....
my father said that one got 330MHz...
but after installing Linux...
it told that it is just 66 MHz......(66....holy....^^")
and its processing time tells me that it is really a 66 MHz one.

my father said that I have to set those jumpers on the motherboard first. But he is not sure which to set at all.

Finally, I turned to the on-line help of the compaq company....haha..the Englsih one....( I don't know if there is a Chinese one at that moment)
as a result, I just chat to the technician in English...haha.....that's very interesting....

However, as may be it is due to my veryyy old model, even they got not enough information to solve my problem........and they ask me to seek the Hong Kong Support Centre for help....haha.....very interesting indeed....

but that is 3:00am already, surely there is no one in the Hong Kong Support Centre la!!
so I need to go tommorow lu.....let see what will happen....^_^

recently, I am working on the DT club web site again....haha

I change the DT web site server from a 200MHz, 64 Mb RAM computer to a 800 MHz, 128 Mb RAM computer, which is much better and both are placed at school.....

I hope this web site can be used for some years as I am using a "canned" web site called Dragonfly.....("canned" means "Ready for use")....the web site can be managed very easily....^.^

you may have a look of that....but it is mainly in English and nothing is built yet...(I need to find serveral people to translate all that....>_<)

ROBOCUP Competition

ar......I joined 2 robot competitions recntly.......they will be held on 30/6.......>_<
but I have done nearly nothing.....all things are just in my mind so far.......

I am very worried that I won't have enough time to prepare for that.......
and.....I find that the companys that sells some hardware resources are just crazy!!!!
they set very high price to just simple things.....a Intrared sensor (at a size of just 1.3cm x 6cm) costs you $450!!!! and I ask Mr. Lo to buy 4........>_<
luckily.....he promises to buy that......

I hope I can have GREAT results in the competition.........haha....^_^

5D Sushi Day

Today is a happy day....many 5D classmates, including Kan, Au Kam Wing, Alan, Katy, Lemon, Wong Hon Hong, Chau, banana, Wai, Franco, Jeffery, Li Wai and Kalun, all together 15 people go to eat sushi in a restaurant in the 'West Kowloon Centre'......

but there is something bad happened during the dinner....
I don't mean that Tong Ki was doing anything wrong....but it is that Tong Ki came in and ate or drink nothing.....but the restaurant got a system that it counts the 'head'.....that means each people came in need to pay....no matter you eat or not......however, we are not very sure about this...at last....the restaurant charged us to a fee of 16 people.......>_<
I do think I need to be becareful about this next time I organise such activity.....

after the sushi dinner....we went to the Game Centre on the top floor of the centre and we play the 'air cushion ball', that table is a big one and ball is moving smoothly enough......the game thus become very exciting as it is a fast one......you need to be very concentrated or you lose very quickly....Li Wai played very well that I couldn't even get 3 marks.....

that's nearly all for the day and take MTR to home.......the whole day is just a nice one and I hope that we will come out and play something like today......^_^
